Behind HIBISCUS stands a diverse, multi-disciplinary consortium combining industrial leadership, scientific excellence, advanced pilot facilities, and strong innovation networks. Each partner plays a strategic role in developing, upscaling, testing, and deploying the project’s bio-based solutions.
A unique collaboration across Europe
The project unites 12 partners + 1 affiliated entity from France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands. The consortium includes:
- 2 large companies: SOPREMA (Coordinator), Kraton
- 2 SMEs: INDRESMAT, CELLMAT
- 8 RTOs: CNRS & University of Strasbourg, University of Liège, Fraunhofer IBP, IFEU, VITO, CSTB, LEITAT
- 1 European cluster: Bioeconomy For Change (B4C)
A shared vision for a sustainable construction sector
Together, these partners will co-develop the five HIBISCUS demonstrator products and bring them to pilot scale. Through close collaboration across chemistry, process engineering, building physics, sustainability assessment, and market deployment, the consortium aims to deliver solutions ready for industrial adoption.
With strong CBE-JU funding and a clear alignment with the EU Green Deal, HIBISCUS demonstrates how cross-sector partnerships can accelerate the transition to circular, safer, and high-performance building materials.
